Every year since her passing on 12th June 2018 we now award the 'Dee Horsman trophy' to an individual who has gone that extra mile during the season or has consistently stepped-up and made a difference to our club. The Horsman family as a whole are a massive part of Brentwood Eels and its success and growth over the years with Carl previously being chairman and son Rian playing for the club since a young boy through to London Broncos first team last year.
Carl and Rian sadly could not make the 20th Anniversary event so our longest serving volunteer Mark Baker read out the below message at our event earlier this year held at Warley Park Golf Club.
"Sorry I can't be with you all this evening but I hope you're having a great time celebrating the clubs 20th anniversary. This award is one which means so much to both Rian and myself and I'd like to thank the club for keeping her memory alive. Dee was a great supporter of the club and was a huge help when I was Chairman with her common sense advice and putting up with all the time I spent on Rugby League.
I've always given particular care when selecting a recipient of this award and this year is no different. The winner is somebody who has been involved with the club for many years as both a player and volunteer who has done some sterling work in recent years. I've always said that success as a club isn't always about winning cups and medals, but the numbers of players and coaches you have, seeing the enjoyment on kids faces and the positive impact you can have on someone's life. And the winner is somebody who has matured in his time at the club and is now a father himself with his own boy now pulling on the Eels Jersey which is great to see.
The winner of this years Dee Horsman award goes to Jamie Impey. We'll done mate."
