After putting in some good performances at the Medway Festival the U11's returned to Brentwood for some further matches. On what was the hottest day of the year the Eels played against the Medway Dragons and a very tough Eastern Rhinos.
First up was Medway and the boys really worked hard with some solid defence and hard running from the forwards. Alfie, Lewis, Rhys and Liam ran with real purpose and some clever running from Ronnie at dummy-half ensured we remained on the front foot. The backs chimed in well with Jake pulling the strings and utilising Shay and Ethan well. Our replacement winger on debut Lourcan looked good and actually scored with his first touch of the ball. Special mention to both Seun and Taylor who really ran well and caused problems whenever they had the ball.

Tries:
Seun 2, Ronnie 2, Jake & Lorcan 1
As the temperature increased the Eels then played Eastern. With the heat and only a short rest since the Medway match it was going to be a tough ask to keep those high standards. The Rhinos are a very structured and disciplined side and have been together a while now so we're measuring our improvements against them. Their big ball carriers rumbled up the pitch and really caused us problems and put the Rhinos in good field position. Credit to the Eels who kept chipping away with Seun once again working extremely well. The try of the game however came from a great move with Jake drifting across the pitch, drawing the man and then passing to Lourcan who took the ball at pace and ghosted in at the corner. It was a really good morning and the boys are now starting to get the rules and work well as a unit. We just need that defence to push!

A big thanks to both Medway and Eastern (players, coaches and parents) who were great guests and played the game in the right spirit. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
